The Idea to make Mushroom green peas masala came when I saw Nisha Madhulika preparing those tasty Mushroom dishes. I decided to make it little bit healthier by removing oil from it.

Ingredients needed to make Oil free Mushroom Matar

  • Curry Leaves
  • Ginger Garlic Paste
  • Mushroom
  • Red Chili Powder
  • Green Chilies
  • Onion Paste (2 large sized onions)
  • Cumin powder
  • Garam Masala
  • Tomato Puree or Tomato paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Green Peas or Matar
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Coriander powder
  • Coriander Leaves

Make Zero Oil Mushroom Matar in 5 easy steps

Step 1: Washing the Mushroom
Mushrooms are very delicate and therefore extra care needs to be taken when washing it.

Tip: Wash the Mushroom in Hot/Warm water

Step 2: Boiling
Boil the Mushroom and Green peas in a bowl of water.
Add salt to the water so that it boils quickly.
Boil until Matar and Mushroom is half cooked.

Step 3: Sautéing and preparing masala
Take a Non-Stick Pan.
Start by adding curry leaves and Green Chilies.
Sauté it for a while and then add Onion paste.
Keep stirring the onion paste until its mild brown.
Add Cumin powder, red chili powder, Turmeric powder and Coriander powder.
Keep stirring the mixture.
Add Ginger Garlic Paste and mix it, after a minute add Tomato Puree
Make sure it does not stick to the Pan, add few tea spoons of water to areas where its sticking.
Make sure we roast the masala’s nice and even as taste of uncooked or unroasted masala is not that good.

Notice that there is no oil in it yet…

Step 4: Boiled Mushroom Matar meets Masalas
it’s time to add Mushroom and Matar (Green Peas) to the Masala.
Stir the mixture nicely and slowly as Mushrooms should not break.
Add some water and cover the pan with Lid.
Let it Cook for 10-12 Mins.

Note: If you want Matar Mushroom Dry then don’t add water, simply cover the Lid after Mixing Mushroom and green peas with Masala.

Step 5: Garnish and serve
Add some chopped coriander leaves for garnishing.
And serve it with Phulka or chapatti.

Your 100% Zero oil Mushroom Matar is ready to be served.
