Ingredients needed to make Oil free Dal khichdi

  • Masoor Dal
  • Rice
  • Chopped Onion
  • 3 small green chilies
  • Turmeric powder
  • 2 Tomato’s (chopped)
  • Green Peas

For Oil free Tadka you will need:

1.) Dried red chili
2.) Cumin Seeds
3.) Chopped onions

How to make Khichdi Without Oil?

Make oil free khichdi in 5 easy steps

Step 1:

Chop the onions
Chop the Tomato’s
Leave the whole green chili as it is

Step 2:

Wash the masoor Dal, Green peas and rice.

Step 3:

In a cooker take 2 – 3 glasses of water.
Mix Rice, Dal, turmeric powder, green peas, chopped onions, tomato’s and green chilies
Put the lid and let it cook for three whistles (Note: If the Dal is not pre-soaked then cook let it cook up to 6 whistle)
Our Oil free khichdi is ready up to this point however to make it little tasty we need to add some tadka as well.

Step 4: Making Tadka

To make tadka take a tava
Start by adding 2 – 3 Dry red chili and saute it for a min
Add cumin seeds and roast it
Make sure that red chili and cumin seeds turn mild brown
Add chopped onions and saute it until its mild brown.

Step 5:

Mix the tadka with our oil free khichdi.
Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves
