So if you learn the art of adding masala’s step by step your food will taste just like normal food that is cooked with oil. Making zero oil food is an art that becomes perfect when practiced over a period of time.

Ingredients needed to make Oil free Dal Makhani
1.) One whole finely chopped tomato
2.) Curry leaves
3.) Split black gram (Urad Dal)
4.) Salt to taste
5.) 1/2 inch finely chopped Ginger
6.) 3 cloves garlic finely chopped
7.) Kidney beans
8.) Finely chopped onions
9.) Red Chili powder
10.) Turmeric powder
11.) Low fat curd
12.) Coriander powder
13.) Garam Masala
14.) Coriander leaves for garnishing
Easy steps to make Zero oil Dal Makhani
Step 1: Soaking!
Soak the Dal overnight so that the Dal softens naturally.
Step 2: Boiling Dal
In a cooker, add some salt and water.
Add the Dal and pressure cook it up to 4 – 5 whistles.
Step 3: Roasting Spices!
Take a non-stick pan and start roasting masala’s as per below instructions.
Start by adding curry leaves, Sauté if for 30 – 4 seconds.
Put some Chopped onions.
Sauté the onions until onions starts turning light brown.
Add chopped ginger and garlic.
Keep sautéing it until the onions are mild brown
Add Tomato’s and sauté it for a while until you see your onions become brown.
Start including the spices one by one i.e. turmeric powder, Coriander powder, Red chili powder and Garam Masala.
Add Salt to taste
Make sure you roast all the Masala’s well without burning it.
Tip: If the spices stick to the Pan, you may add some water approx. 1 – 2 teaspoon.
Step 4: Dal Meets Spices!
Mix the boiled Dal with roasted spices.
Let it boil for next 10 – 15.
Add some Low fat curd now.
Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
Your 100% zero oil Dal makhani is ready to be served hot with Rice or Chapatti.
