Quickest way to make wheat grass juice is to take 100 grams Wheatgrass and wash it thoroughly, put it in the juicer, add some water and juice it. Separate the fiber from juice and have it on empty stomach to get the optimum results. You can expect 50 ml juice if prepared correctly.
The recipe above is the simplest and easiest amongst all the wheatgrass juice recipes which you will see below.
Off course, the quantity of juice that you want obviously depends on what your goals are.
For instance if your goal is to simply maintain good health, then a simple wheat grass shot of 50 ml once a day on empty stomach should suffice.
But if your goal is to make it a part of your diet especially if you are following a special diet or a juicing diet then, I would say you need to increase the intake up to 100 ml every day.
However, if you are anemic or suffering from obesity, diabetes or liver disorders then you need to increase the dosage up to twice a day.
In General, Wheatgrass works well and acts as an ayurvedic medicine if it’s consumed in simplest form. Meaning you need to be very careful on what you are adding to the juice if your goal is to heal/fulfill the nutritional needs from wheatgrass.
This is because any addition that you do will change the Quality, potency and chemical composition of the juice.
Since wheatgrass is not super tasty and not everyone enjoys the taste, I have compiled 6 wheatgrass juice recipes that is not only palatable but also provides tons of health benefits without nullifying the potency of wheatgrass.

Note: Growing wheatgrass in a pot is one of my preferred method, but it’s not the only way to grow wheatgrass at home. You can grow wheatgrass even without pot and soil too using wheatgrass growing containers available in the market.
So now that you know about various wheatgrass juice recipes and techniques to make the juice at home, let’s take a quick look on how you can grow wheatgrass at home so that you have constant supply of this potent grass 365 days a year.
How to grow Wheatgrass at home?
I have adopted a unique method that helps me to have constant supply of wheatgrass all year round.
The secret to this is actually simple and anyone can do it, simply follow below steps so that stock never ends for you.
- Go to nearby store/market and buy 7 pots on which you can grow plants (Including the soil)
- Now, here is the trick, wait until Monday.
- On Monday, sow a handful of wheatgrass seeds on pot number 1 (don’t touch the other pots)
- Next day i.e. Tuesday, sow a handful of Wheatgrass seeds on Pot number 2 (Don’t touch the other pots)
- Do the same on Wednesday, sow wheatgrass seeds on Pot number 3 (Don’t touch the other pots)
- Likewise do it for remaining others.
- By the time you reach day 8 you will have Pot 1 ready which fresh wheatgrass, simply remove the wheatgrass and juice it using any of the methods mentioned above.
- After you have taken out the wheatgrass from Pot 1 immediately sow a new lot of wheatgrass juice.
This way you can keep the cycle going on for as long as you want.
Commonly asked questions on Wheatgrass Juice
What is Wheatgrass?
Wheatgrass is a young plant grown from wheat seeds. The botanical name of Wheatgrass plant is Triticum aestivum and these type of plants are extremely high on chlorophyll.
Due to this precise reason it gets the anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties.
Wheatgrass plants are easy to sow and grow. It can grow in your backyard as well as in your house (indoors).

It smells just like a normal grass, thereby making difficult to drink. The grassy smell and flavor tends to remain in the mouth. Thus, it’s recommended you use any of the above mentioned combinations.
Is it recommended to buy a readymade Wheatgrass juice?
I personally don’t recommend to buy wheatgrass juice as it contains class II preservatives. Best is to grow wheatgrass at home and juice it. If you don’t have any option to grow only then go for a readymade one.
How does Wheatgrass Juice taste?
It’s certainly not good in taste. Wheatgrass juice is bitter (Mild) with grassy smell and flavor making it had to consume. But the benefit that it gives, far exceeds the drawback we see in taste.
What are the side effects of Wheatgrass?
Anything in nature which is good for health may not be as good if consumed without any limits. Just like other super foods, wheatgrass too have some negative side effects if it’s consumed in excess.

In short, the answer is yes it can.
Wheatgrass is considered as a top notch medicine in Ayurveda. It corrects Vata, Pitta and Kapha meaning it balance the disturbed function in your body, thereby aiding in weight loss.
Currently, there are no clinical trials done on human that suggest its direct role in weight loss. However, few clinical trials done on rat proves that it considerably reduces the weight and cholesterol levels.
Wheatgrass should not be viewed as a direct weight loss medicine, the way wheatgrass helps you to lose weight is by correcting the imbalanced Doshas in your body. So it’s not like you get a headache and you take crocin to relieve pain, instead it works holistically.
Is wheatgrass juice safe for diabetics?
100% Yes, every diabetics should have wheatgrass period. It’s extremely safe and some studies also shows that it reduces/reverses diabetes.
